Manotick and Greely

Wells and septic systems

Manotick and Greely are part of rural Ottawa, and building there often means planning around things city lots never deal with. Carleton Prime works in both, from kitchens and basements to additions and custom homes.

Many homes in and around Manotick and Greely are on private wells and septic systems. That changes the plan. Septic systems have their own approvals, separate from the usual building permit. The Rideau Valley Conservation Authority reviews new and replacement systems, and renovations to existing ones.

If a project adds living space, it is worth looking at the septic system early, before the design is settled. Finding out halfway through is the expensive way to learn it. Ask early.

“Indiana and his crew renovated a bathroom for me and the process was seamless, respectful and completed with extreme care and quality. I consider Carleton Prime the best construction company in Ottawa. I will use them for all future projects. Very pleased, would highly recommend.”

On the Rideau

Manotick sits on the Rideau River, which is part of the Rideau Canal, and that matters the moment a project reaches the water. Parks Canada has jurisdiction over the canal's bed and requires a permit for docks, boathouses and other work built in, on or over it. For a waterfront project, that is one more approval to plan for. Plan for it early.

Rural lots come with their own list. The well, the septic system and the driveway all have to be planned before the house. More on our custom homes page.
