Custom homes

City lot or rural lot

A custom home is the biggest project most families will ever take on, and the one where a builder's mistakes are the most expensive to live with. Carleton Prime builds custom homes across Ottawa and the Ottawa Valley, on city lots and on rural land.

Building in town and building in the country are different jobs. A rural lot usually means a well, a septic system and a long driveway, and the house has to be planned around all three before the first shovel goes in. A city lot usually means neighbours close on both sides, tight access for deliveries, and infill rules. We plan for whichever one you have.

“Indiana and his crew renovated a bathroom for me and the process was seamless, respectful and completed with extreme care and quality. I consider Carleton Prime the best construction company in Ottawa. I will use them for all future projects. Very pleased, would highly recommend.”

Framed and finished by the same company

Because drywall, flooring and painting are services Carleton Prime offers itself, the finishing stages of your home are handled by the same company that framed it. The people who built the walls are the people who finish them. That matters more than it sounds.

How it runs

Every Carleton Prime project follows the same five steps: an in-home consultation, a detailed estimate, planning and scheduling, construction with regular updates, and a final walkthrough together. On a custom home, each step is simply bigger. The order does not change. The steps are laid out on our company information page.

Whole job or one part

The whole project, or any part of it

Carleton Prime can take on the whole project, turnkey, or just the part you need: one phase, or one trade such as the framing, drywall, tile, flooring or painting. Builders, general contractors, architects, designers and engineers can also bring us in as a subcontractor and an extra, experienced member of the team.

Frequently asked questions

Do new homes come with a warranty?

Yes, two of them. Every new home in Ontario carries the statutory Tarion warranty, which Tarion explains on its website. On top of that, Carleton Prime gives a five-year warranty on its construction work.

Can you build on a rural lot?

Yes. Rural lots bring their own work, usually a well, a septic system and a longer driveway, and we plan for them from the first site visit.
